While every student is important, at the end of the school year we focus on celebrating our graduating 8th graders as they prepare to leave the halls of Moody Middle School. These PTSA is dedicated to sponsor events that are fun and meaningful designed to acknowledge and celebrate our students accomplishments. On behalf of the PTSA, we wish to extend Congratulations to the Moody Middle School Class of 2025. We wish them success with their high school education endeavors.
8TH GRADE DANCE: “A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
The 8th grade dance is the most anticipated event of the year. It is a chance for the students to be able to make one last night of fun and memories with their friends they made here at Moody.
The 2025 Moody Middle School’s PTSA proudly sponsored “A Night to Remember”. This year’s event was one of the best ever. We hosted over 275 students who were able to attend this event for FREE.
In addition to financial support from the PTSA and parent donations, we had over 45 businesses that gave corporate and gift donations, including: The Tech Exchange, Wegman’s, Chick-fil-A, Richmond Flying Squirrels, and Publix, just to name a few. New this year, we were able to offer new dietary considerations for students who are Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, and other dietary needs with the assistance of some very generous food donations. We want to thank Lyra’s Natural Kitchen, Philly Vegan, and WPA Bakery for their contributions to make it possible for everyone to feel included.
In addtion to the night of music and fun, we were able to give away some fantastic gift donations including: A PlayStation 5, MetaQuest 3 (courtesy of The Tech Exchange), a family of 4 experience to Pelegos VR, admission to Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA), The Science Museum of Virginia, and Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. Gift cards to local businesses and unique entertainment experiences. To see the look on the kids’ faces as we gave those gifts away was not only priceless, but it was the highlight of the evening. We want to take time to thank our sponsors for making this year’s event the best send-off we’ve ever had:
We would also like to acknowledge the hardworking 8th Grade Dance Parent Committee for all of their hard work, time and dedication to this project: Suzette Dismuke, Linda Green, Michelle Kempf, Michelle Lipawwsky, Sanita Sljuka, Lakshmi Vasudevan, and teacher advisor Rhonda Bowan. Finally we want to acknowledge all of the parents, teachers and staff that came out to volunteer their time to help with decorating, serving and chaperoning for the dance. We could not have done it without you.
Volunteer for PTSA:
It’s true what they say that “it takes a village”. The PTSA depends on support from our MMS family to make events like this a success. You too can make a positive impact. The PTSA can’t do these events without the help of parents to get involved. We not only need monetary donations but we need volunteers to assist with fundraising efforts, decorations, food/catering, invitations, and so much more. Please consider joining the PTSA not just for this event but for other sponsored PTSA organized events. To join the PTSA please click here.
